Where exactly is Dove Cottage located?
Dove Cottage is situated in a secluded spot on the banks of the River Dove, beneath Shining Tor in the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park. It is approximately three-quarters of a mile from the pretty village of Alstonefield and five and a half miles north of the market town of Ashbourne.
What is there to do from the cottage?
The location is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. A riverside footpath runs directly from the bottom of the garden, leading north along the river to Hartington and south to Dovedale and the famous Stepping Stones. For cyclists, the Tissington Trail, linking to the High Peak Trail, is just a short ride up the lane. We are also happy to share our favourite walking routes with guests.
How many people can the cottage sleep?
The cottage sleeps up to four guests, arranged over two bedrooms: one king-sized and one with twin beds.
How many bathrooms does the cottage have?
There are two bathrooms. Upstairs, there is a luxury family bathroom with a freestanding double-ended bath and a double walk-in rainfall shower. Downstairs, there is a second bathroom with a bath, WC, and handbasin – ideal for washing off muddy boots after a walk.
Is the cottage dog-friendly?
Yes, by prior arrangement only, one well-behaved dog is permitted. Please advise the owner at the time of booking if you wish to bring your dog. Dogs are welcome downstairs only.
What is the mobile signal and WiFi like?
Due to the rural location, there is no mobile signal unless you have WiFi calling enabled on your phone. The cottage has its own broadband connection with WiFi. Please note that speeds are not super-fast (approximately 9 Mbps), so online gaming and streaming movies are not possible. However, streaming HD videos is possible.
