A short walk or drive in the opposite direction brings you to the hamlet of Milldale, a picture-postcard cluster of cottages nestled in the Dove Valley. From here, you can join the riverside path north towards Hartington or simply enjoy the peace of this quieter corner of the dale.

For walkers, the possibilities are endless. The footpath from the bottom of the garden leads you directly into Wolfscote Dale, one of the finest limestone valleys in the National Park. A little further afield, the charming market town of Ashbourne offers supermarkets, independent shops and a bustling Friday market. Other nearby treasures include the famous stepping stones at Dovedale, the dramatic caverns at Castleton, and the historic spa town of Buxton with its elegant architecture and renowned opera house.
